Career

Blog 27 was founded by two teenage singers and friends, Tola Szlagowska and Alicja "Ala" Boratyn. The group's name comes from their interest in blogging and the date they were both born (27 November 1992). Band's first single was a cover version of Alexia's hit "Uh La La La", released in the summer of 2005. Their second single, "Hey Boy (Get Your Ass Up)", was released later the same year, also meeting with success. Debut album <LOL> came out on the girls' 13th birthday, selling ultimately over 100,000 copies in Poland and peaking at #2 there.[2]

In 2006 Blog 27 released their third single, "Wid Out Ya", which became another hit, and went on tour with German group Tokio Hotel. Their debut album was issued internationally, charting in no less than five countries. All the three singles were released in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, and one ("Uh La La La") in France, Italy, Hungary and Japan. Two more singles followed in Poland: "I Still Don't Know Ya" and ballad "Who I Am?".

On 18 October 2006, Alicja announced her departure from Blog 27, citing differences on proffesional background with Tola.[3] Hence, "Who I Am?" music video saw only Tola starring in it. Blog 27's line-up then consisted of Tola as the leader and six more members. Despite Ala's departure, Blog 27's popularity still remained high, with their website achieving over 5 million hits in 2007.

In April 2008 the second album, Before I'll Die, was released, on which Tola had been working in the USA. It made it to top 3 in Poland.[4] The first single off the record, "Cute (I'm Not Cute)", became a massive hit and got a four-star review from Blender.[5] However, the second single, "Fuck U!", failed to reach the charts and Tola moved to the USA.
